5 Animals Qigong with Sifu Debbie Leung

Saturday, December 5th at 10-11:30am

Hosted by Seven Star Women’s Kung Fu

Class Description:

The martial arts have a history of using fighting animals for inspiration. Qigong is also inspired by animals, but for health. The cool thing is that qigong principles improve both our health and martial skills – a great example of yin and yang. In this workshop, we will practice two movements for each of the animals in 5 Animal Qigong as taught by Master Su Zifang during her 2019 Olympia workshop. Allow the spirit of each animal inhabit us as we stretch our muscles and fascia, massage our internal organs, gain strength through stabilization, and prevent/find relief from aches and pains while improving our martial arts movements through qigong principles.

Cost:

Sliding Scale $0-$20

Location:

Online via Zoom. You will receive a confirmation email with Zoom link.

Bio:

Debbie Leung started her martial arts practice in 1978 with Shito-ryu karate. In 1981, training began in Northern Shaolin kung-fu in Olympia, WA, where she learned about herself as well as the art. Its traditional foundation carried over to advanced Taiji and Qigong training in 1994 with Master Wen Mei Yu, who she continues to see for corrections and training in Liangong, Qigong, and Wu Style Taijiquan. In 2007, Debbie began learning Baguazhang and is deepening her understanding of internal arts with Master Su Zifang. While martial applications continue to be an interest, Debbie now mostly uses the Chinese movement arts to help people through their health issues, especially as they age. Debbie is the author of Self-Defense: The Womanly Art of Self-Care, Intuition, and Choice (R&M Press, 1991). Chinese Healing & Movement Arts is an official branch of Jian Mei Internal Martial Arts established by Master Wen Mei Yu.
